New research aims to reduce likelihood of avian flu outbreaks

Thursday, June 28, 2018

A team of researchers from Arizona State University, King’s College London, and UNSW Sydney has received a US$75,000 PLuS Alliance Accelerator Award to develop a risk model that enhances global security against future outbreaks of avian flu. Professor Matthew Scotch from ASU, Dr Kathleen Steinhöfel from King's, and Professor Raina MacIntyre from UNSW will work together to study how ‘bird flu’ mutates and spreads, research that has the potential to predict where outbreaks will occur and reduce the likelihood of a pandemic.
