Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies

As an Interdisciplinary Studies student, you take an active role in designing your own educational plans to help match your defined career goals. The degree emphasizes written communication, versatility, self-assessment and critical thinking - essential skills for navigating today's dynamic world. You could choose to integrate entertainment technology and business, applied psychology and social welfare, communication and justice studies, public administration and ethics, kinesiology and computer gaming, or many other unique combinations.

Students will work with an advisor to choose two concentrations from the following options: Anthropology​, Art History​, Business​, Criminology and Criminal Justice​, Engineering Management​, English​, Family and Human development​, Film and Media Studies​, Global Health​, History (U.S.)​, Justice Studies​, Media Analysis​, Organizational Leadership​, Personal Health​, Philosophy​, Political Science​, Psychology​, Religious Studies​, Sales and Marketing Essentials​, Sociology​, Spanish​, Sustainability​, Technical Communication​ and Women and Gender Studies.

The BIS degree, one of the top five programs in the country, offers you the freedom to select two concentration areas from a rich menu of more than 140 possibilities. The core curriculum provides you the intellectual tools to integrate your concentration areas and engage in interdisciplinary problem solving.
